Kayaking

Kayaking has become a sport rich in potential for young and old alike. Whether you wish to tour tranquil lakes and simply explore calm waters whilst enjoying the wildlife and scenery, paddle gently along remote, meandering rivers or push yourself to your limit on a pumping white water river trip, Keswick Mountain Adventures, based in the northern Lake District, have access to some of the most beautiful lakes, scenic rivers and exhilerating white water in the UK.

Introduction to kayaking

An enjoyable introduction to kayaking on flat water, we will teach you kayak handling skills along with the principles required to paddle safely as part of a supervised group. A full day spent on a beautiful local lake during which you will learn about kayaks and equipment, paddling skills, water safety and much more. This course is ideal for families as well as adults – Keswick Mountain Adventures’ skilled kayaking instructors have years of experience in teaching kayaking to all ages, and this is a watersport that can truly be enjoyed by all.

Kayaking improver

For paddlers wishing to develop their skills on flat water. Keswick Mountain Adventures’ kayaking coaches will teach you the advanced skills of kayak paddling in the stunning setting of Derwentwater, Keswick. You will be taught the intricacies of trim and balance, paddling backwards and to the side, making fast turns on the move, support strokes, how to roll and much more, leaving you with a full repertoire of paddling strokes.

Discover white water kayaking

For kayakers with flat water experience wishing to move onto moving water. Keswick Mountain Adventures’ highly experienced instructors will help you develop your paddling skills and build your confidence to advance onto grade 2/3 water. Our aim is to refine your existing paddling skills and coach you in the more advanced techniques like breaking in and out, ferry gliding and surfing waves. Under the expert guidance of our experienced coaches you’ll cover strategies for running white water and shooting rapids safely. Keswick Mountain Adventures will teach you about reading the water, developing your river running strategy and refining your skills to enable you to negotiate rapids in an action packed day.

Canoeing

Canoeing is a beautiful, elegant way of exploring the water and enjoying the wildlife and scenery. Keswick Mountain Adventures, based in the northern Lake District have access to some of the most beautiful lakes and scenic white water in the UK. With our fleet of new Prospector canoes and our highly qualified and experienced coaches we are sure you will enjoy this most graceful of watersports.

Introduction to Canoeing

A full day spent on a beautiful local lake during which you will learn about canoes and equipment, paddling skills, water safety and much more. We will teach you canoe handling skills as part of a tandem crew along with the principles required to paddle safely as part of a supervised group. This course is ideal for families as well as adults – Keswick Mountain Adventures’ instructors have years of experience in teaching canoeing to all ages, and this is the watersport that can truly be enjoyed by all. At the end of this course you should have the necessary skills and confidence to be able to paddle a canoe under your own steam.

Solo Canoe Paddling

Our expert canoe coaches will teach you the advanced paddling skills and techniques to paddle a canoe solo. During the day you will refine your skills and learn the strokes necessary to be able to control the boat alone. Advice on canoeing equipment and water safety, a whole load of top tips as well as information on the historical aspects of canoeing, boat design, environmental issues and much more will ensure you leave us with a mind full of information and the practical skills to paddle a canoe solo. A very full and practical day on the water. No previous experience is necessary.

Open Canoe Introduction to White Water

For capable solo or tandem flat water paddlers who want to develop their boat-handling skills on white water. Under the expert guidance of our experienced coaches you’ll cover strategies for running white water and shooting rapids safely. Keswick Mountain Adventures will teach you about reading the water, developing your strategy and refining your skills to enable you to negotiate rapids in an action packed day.

Guided Canoe Journeys
